Inspiring Barrow Kickstart programme from September – December 2018

Children from 12 primary schools took part in the  Inspiring Barrow Kickstart programme from September – December 2018. The children took part in after school activities that helped them improve confidence, resilience, leadership, communication and team work. To build on these skills the children also enjoyed a day trip at half term to  The Kepplewray centre at Broughton where they took part in Crate –Stacking, Bush Craft, Archery and a Giant Tree Climb.

Upon completion of the programme the children and their families were invited to attend a celebration evening at The Forum (Studio) where they all received certificates and special awards which were presented by Mrs Claire Hensman H.M Lieutenant for Cumbria. You can see what she had to say about the programme.

The last special treat for the children was the inaugural film fest, which took part on Saturday 15th December 2018, where the children voted to watch Home Alone , had a visit from Santa and all received a gift to take home…

Our children had a fantastic time on the Kick Start programme. They loved every session and had a whale of a time at Kepplewray. We really hope that the programme can continue again next year as it does so much good in increasing resilience and confidence in children. Dawn Hubbold, Ormsgill Primary School
